AI: A Curse in Disguise or the Pension of the Future?

Henry Kim ·

"In an era where intelligence becomes capital, technology is a blessing only for those who are prepared."

Turn on YouTube, and it's all about AI. Some sing of utopia, while others warn of dystopia. As it's still an incomplete technology, it's true that fear often outweighs anticipation. However, whether this becomes "a curse in disguise" or a new opportunity depends not on the technology itself, but on us who wield it.

I am convinced that the time is coming when AI technology must be socially co-owned, and its profits fairly distributed. Until now, humans have used their intelligence as a tool to earn money, but soon, a world will arrive where 'intelligence' itself becomes currency and capital.

Saskatchewan, where I live, stands at a crucial crossroads in the face of this immense change. Although its population is small, this very fact can allow for faster experimentation and application at the community level. We must collectively build and preemptively secure AI as an asset. If we work together and prepare thoroughly, the intellectual output of our jointly invested AI will sustain our lives like a 'pension'.

If we don't prepare now, our community will miss out on the rightful benefits it deserves.
