COMPARE · PODIUM

Looking for a Podium alternative for your auto repair shop? Compare the job first.

Podium and Foloup are different kinds of product. Podium describes itself as an AI Employee that answers calls, texts, chats and email around the clock. Foloup is a text-based follow-up and booking workflow that SKAIA installs for one bottleneck at a time, and it does not answer voice calls. This page sets out what each company publicly states, where each one is limited, and which questions to ask before choosing either.

What Podium says it offers

On its AI Employee page, Podium says its AI works across phone calls, text, email and social from one centralized inbox, responds 24/7 and books directly on your calendar, with escalation rules for when a person needs to step in. Its automotive site is written for car dealerships: it describes Sales AI and Service AI, Voice AI that answers every call, voice and text scheduling of service appointments, declined-service follow-up and automated review outreach. Plans include hands-on onboarding and a dedicated customer success manager, according to the plans page. We summarize these as Podium's own statements; we have not tested Podium.

What Foloup does, and what it does not

Foloup connects website-form inquiries, text follow-up after a missed call or inquiry, estimate follow-up and the booking decision to one customer record. Follow-ups are drafted with the customer's context and held for approval before sending. SMS follow-up is included on every plan; email follow-up, KakaoTalk and the CRM module start on the Growth plan. Foloup does not answer voice phone calls. A missed-call text depends on your phone provider supplying a usable missed-call event, which is checked during setup. Integration with a particular CRM, POS or shop-management system is not promised and is assessed individually.

The deciding question: do you need calls answered?

If your main gap is that nobody can pick up the phone and you want an AI voice to handle the call itself, Podium states that it offers this and Foloup does not. If calls are being answered, or you are comfortable replying by text, and the gap is what happens afterwards — an unanswered form, a quote that goes quiet, a booking nobody confirms — then the comparison is about follow-up workflows, approvals and measurement. Write down that job before comparing brands; the comparison checklist linked below walks through it.

Podium: points to check

  • Pricing is not published on the pages we reviewed, so the total cost, contract length and any add-on charges have to come from a sales quote.
  • The automotive material is written for dealerships, using terms like ROs and test drives, and names dealer systems such as Xtime and Tekion. An independent repair shop should ask how it applies to its own phone setup and shop-management system.
  • Customer results quoted on Podium's pages are from Podium's own case studies; ask for references from shops similar to yours.

Foloup: limits to know

  • No voice phone reception. If you need calls answered by AI, Foloup is not the right tool for that job.
  • No promised CRM, POS or shop-management integration; compatibility is checked individually.
  • SKAIA Inc. was incorporated in 2026 in Calgary. Foloup has a short public track record, and it is installed by SKAIA rather than self-serve.
  • There is an upfront cost: the $1,500 pilot, or $3,000 activation and integration with a $1,500 pilot credit. Daily send and AI-credit limits apply per plan.

Podium may suit you if

  • You want an AI voice to answer inbound calls.
  • You run a dealership or a service department whose systems Podium names.
  • You prefer one vendor covering calls, messaging and reviews, and you are comfortable with quote-based pricing.

Foloup may suit you if

  • Your gap is follow-up after the first contact: forms, quiet estimates and unconfirmed bookings.
  • You want follow-ups held for approval, with published monthly pricing in CAD.
  • You would rather start with one measured 30-day workflow before committing further.

Questions before you choose

Is Foloup a replacement for Podium?

Not necessarily. They cover different scopes, and Foloup does not answer calls. Some shops may need voice answering, some need follow-up, and some may need both from different tools.

Is Foloup cheaper than Podium?

We cannot say. Podium does not publish prices on the pages we reviewed. Compare a written Podium quote with Foloup's published plans and setup fees for the same scope.

Does Foloup connect to my shop-management system?

Not by default. Integration is assessed for each deployment and is not promised. Bring the name of your system to the consultation.

This page does not claim either product is better or promise results. Fit is checked in an individual consultation and pilot.
